When outdated lighting threatened to undermine the efficiency and working environment at their facilities, they turned to the experts … who turned to Litetronics for an energy-efficient LED system.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Piston Automotive’s facilities include a diverse range of manufacturing and assembly areas that require consistent and high-quality lighting. Over time, their mix of fluorescent and metal halide fixtures became less efficient, resulting in increased energy costs and maintenance challenges. The outdated lighting caused some areas to be dim, and maintaining the old fixtures became costly and disruptive.
Piston Automotive needed a solution that would enhance lighting quality and lower their carbon footprint while reducing energy and maintenance costs. They turned to the experts at The Safety Source LLC.
THE SOLUTION
The Safety Source LLC, a distributor and service partner in industrial safety, energy efficiency and lighting projects, conducted a lighting audit of Piston Automotive’s facilities and recommended upgrading to LED solutions from Litetronics.
They replaced 566 T5 4 lamp fluorescent fixtures (each consuming 351 watts) with Litetronics’ 115W High Bay fixtures. Litetronics’ High Bays offer excellent optics and glare-free coverage, making them ideal for commercial and industrial settings.
For enhanced control and efficiency, The Safety Source integrated Litetronics SC008 Plug-In Bluetooth PIR Sensors into the fixtures. The SC008 sensors enable wireless control of each fixture through the LiteSmart mobile app and include occupancy sensing to automatically dim or turn off lights in low-traffic areas, further reducing energy consumption.
THE RESULTS
The switch to Litetronics’ LED fixtures resulted in substantial cost savings for Piston Automotive. The facility experienced a dramatic decrease in energy bills, with Litetronics solutions reducing lighting energy consumption by 65%. And the implementation of Litetronics SC008 sensors has further optimized energy use by automatically dimming or turning off lights in low-traffic areas.
The facility experienced an annual reduction in energy costs amounting to $204,003.32, along with annual maintenance savings of $30,127.83.
